To create "Chroma" at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Metal Shop, Carson completed three different surface treatments to the sheet metal including using the blow torch to create colour, using the grinder to create shine, and using the sandbag and anvil to create texture. He used the spot welder to connect the stair pieces to each other in an arrangement that was cohesive, and also a bit unusual. A key detail of the sculpture is the stair piece that is moving sideways instead of up or down, skewing the assumed direction of movement associated with a staircase. There are also spikes that were added to certain stairs with rivets. The idea with these pieces was also to disrupt movement similar to a conceptual roadblock.

With "Weak Link," the assembly attempts to communicate the feeling of an impending downfall. Most of Carsons exploration with this project revolved around the medium of wood at the at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Wood Shop, leading him to go through about 3 major revisions of the final design in order to find an approach that yielded the desired result. The fragility reflects the concept, and captures movement in the rings.

Carsons inspiration for "Propelled" was primarily the movement of paper, and similarly interpreted structures. Particularly, his models were inspired by book pages, newspapers or magazines, and paper airplanes. To create the more large scale paper air plane crash, the steps he followed included creating stencils out of newspaper, measuring and cutting cardboard, assembling major pieces and details, as well as adding structural support to the base, all at the at the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Sculpture Studio.

"Fragmentation" explores the projection of light and shadows through and next to perforated shapes at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design Interdisciplinary Studio. With various was to be viewed and interact with light, this project was also an introduction to using paper in 3D forms.

"Shapes of Use" reflects the impact of human use on the objects we handle. This is captured in the malleable medium of soap that is designed to be handled and changed with use, while being sculpted into structures that often change with human interaction, or vice versa where human behaviour changes based on the accessibility to and inescapability of technology. These pieces were carved on-site at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design Interdisciplinary Studio.
